I used to live outside a mid-sized NE city. You literally watched it spread and metastasize into the suburbs. Thought I moved far enough out.. didn’t. Had to go to the bible belt, outside a slightly smaller mid-sized city. I’m seeing the pattern repeat. Locust, cockroaches, analogies abound.

This is not the N.C. of my youth either.
A certain demographic didn’t go where they weren’t suppose to and if they did they got out before the sun set.
Fuquay is a bit surprising, but I do not know how much of the 13% is there. Smithfield, not so much surprised as there is a lot of diversity there in certain parts.
Kinda makes you wish for more Flock cameras and drones, huh.
Go to Zaxby’s for some chicken, and get done in by some chickenshit. It’s all so tiresome. Zaxby’s hasn’t made their way to my AO yet, but I’m sure when they do, they will be a hotbed for the 13/50’s, just like Popeye’s and Church’s before them.

Well, that’s good to hear. Word is they are expanding into my area, and have a franchise agreement already in place. I’ve seen estimates of openings in 2027-early 2028 talked about, but have not seen any specific locations announced yet. I’ve been to a couple when out on road trips, and thought they were pretty decent. I’ll give them a fair shake when they finally have a couple of outlets open here, but if I sense that they are drawing the wrong crowd, I’ll be out straight away.
I do wonder if they’ll make it, though. The economy is already shaky, the costs of construction are up noticeably, and they are entering an already saturated market (in terms of fast food outlets, and chicken places specifically). I shudder to think about how bad things will look in another 12-18 months, and wonder if that may kill them before they even have a solid chance to get a foothold here.
It’s getting bad in this country when you don’t even have to ask who would do such a thing because you already know.
Which is exactly why the media’s preferred practice of withholding the race (and more generally the description and mugshot) of a violent perp is so stupid, since we all immediately know exactly what the omission means. It’s like the popular expression “tell me it’s (X) without telling me it’s (X).
