I had planned on moderating a roundtable on governance at the September PATCON and would like to elaborate about that topic.
As I wrote earlier, I wanted to have discussions instead of presentations. I wanted people to come together and discuss topics instead of preaching to the choir without providing solutions. Solutions would be discussed, modified and leave attendees thinking about how to move forward in their areas.
At one of Brock’s PATCONs, a meeting was held prior to its opening. Only selected people were “invited”. The first thing stated was that we should assume that there were people in attendance at that meeting who were infiltrators working for the government. That was over ten years ago but it was made strong impression. And it was ended up being correct.
My opening statement at the PATCON was to make a similar statement and assure everyone of my intentions. As I said earlier, people have not suffered enough to stand up. I firmly believe this government will collapse due to economic bankruptcy, incompetence and war; it will not collapse by people rising up and starting a revolution. I like to think of this as a restoration of our founding fathers’ intent for government instead of a revolution or civil war but my point is that the government will collapse because of the actions that they put in place.
My roundtable was going to focus on governance on a local level of the community. It would not have addressed any governance outside the area in which we lived as that would come much later. The best analogy would be the example outlined in One Second After in Black Mountain, NC. Security and supplies would be a priority. I would consider this to have been successful if people left with an understanding of the importance now of building and securing their community, understanding the need for morality and what actions were immediately essential. If the power was out, how would your community have drinking water, be able to cook, procure food and provide shelter within 48 hours? Who will be responsible for law and order? If you have read the 299 Days series, it provides much of the information concerning security, law and even a rudimentary judicial system.
I would not have addressed any larger system of government as that was not the point of the roundtable. The point was to organize, protect and feed people when this nation collapses. I also wanted input from other people concerning structure, morality and what they would prioritize. Living in WNC provides meat for people. Shooting a deer or wild boar would feed a small community at a central facility for a day if you have one ready ahead of time. Water is essential and that is another asset readily available here. But without power, how do you get pure water? It helps if you have a simple pump and/or solar powered wells already in place.
I have ideas based on history and fictional dystopian books but my purpose was not to tell people what to do. My purpose was to take prepping to the next level and encouraging people to think outside the box. Does your area have a local library? Does your area have community gardens? How much of your freedom will you give to support “law and order”? And the best part is that people would have been able to add to the discussion to build unity in these objectives and then pass this information to other areas when they went home.
However, that did not happen. I will continue to work to support our community. I do not have to consider providing water, sanitation requirements, a cafeteria, a meeting hall or a library. Once I complete a smokehouse, the food requirements will be eased. That is a part of what I have in place in our community center. I like to set examples and provide help. It seems people are more concerned with tearing down than edification.
The above is a small portion of what would have happened. On the bright side, I hope to have the smokehouse running by September 19th.

Its the only rational conclusion. Glad to see you are working on a smokehouse! You should share your plans and some pics? I’ve got a sawmill, too, and have contemplated whipping one up just for kicks.
You are correct on all counts. First, that the collapse will be the result of factors of economics and competency (rather than a mase uprising), second that anyone serious about trying to survive will have to be thinking in strictly local area terms, and third that people have not yet suffered enough to take any of this seriously (the small percentage who have taken notice of what’s coming, as yourself, excepted).
It was quite generous of you to offer to host the PATCON, but clearly most aren’t ready for that yet. They may never be, and so the concrete actions you’ve taken to plan for survival are the best (and really only) course of that could be taken now. I wish it were otherwise, but reality seldom comports with my wishes.
I hear your argument(s), neither dispute nor agree. I wonder… having watched a lot of J6 on the tee vee… how close do you think that was? Given the mass of people, sheer numbers. If things went differently, would it have ‘worked’?
Unarmed Americans against an organized effort by the government to start a riot? I hope we learned several important lessons. The most important result of J6 was that the government was emboldened in their efforts to destroy the nation.
J6 was a bad joke, if one wants to think of it in terms of [potential] insurrection (which it wasn’t, despite government assholes trying to characterize it as such). It was also (now verifiably) a setup, that unarmed fools walked right into. After Charlottesville in 2017, being involved in the impromptu tour of the Capitol, or anywhere near that mess, was inexcusably stupid.
Every time some group or another organizes an unarmed march into the belly of the beast, I know they are not serious people and discount them as such. Such was J6.
I don’t need to protest against tyrants 3,000 miles away from my home. I have plenty of them 30 miles away.
David,
Thank you for having a heart to help others. I’m sorry that this fell through. Your local community has lost what could have and should have been a great opportunity to prepare and unite in the midst of these impending attacks on our country.
Thanks for being willing to lead when we desparately need wise and seasoned leaders. But most are too blind, programmed and apathetic to step out of the matrix and take action.
And therein lies the problem. If we allow ourself to be challenged and educated about the threats, it requires action on our part to overcome the threat. Or at the very least, to decide that we will not go out on our knees before physcopaths that seek to subjugate and destroy us.
You and your efforts to serve are appreciated.
And for those of you that have never read the book David alluded to “One Second After by William Forstchen, I highly recomment it. It won’t make you comfortable, but it will likely portray a challenging potential reality that you’ve never imagined possible.
May the Lord keep us strong and courageous. And provide us with the wisdom and discernment needed in these challenging times.
Local support was not a factor in cancelling the PATCON.
David are you interested in our smokehouse rules and record keeping?
Has kept confusion and conflicts well contained.
That would be good. Do you want me to post them also?
Your call might be a jumping off for an article of local suggested rules and customs for post Republic living.
Will post later today have things going on right now.
Smoke House Rules: (from memory).
Users provide agreed upon supply of dry firewood for operation yearly. Currently this provides operation of smokehouse, Church wood heat and Pastors wood heat.
A little extra (roughly 10-20%) is part of Pastors emergency firewood program where needy folks get firewood.
Users have ID tags and Tagged Baskets for smaller items to be smoked. We’ve found extra large baby pins with dog tag-metal ear tags useful stamped with ID.
All items to be smoked are logged in by Smoke House Staff in the books. Details are what being smoked, how much it weighed before hanging in smokehouse.
ID and records ARE CRITICAL. Prevention of loss of honor as folks disagree what and how much was placed into Smokehouse. Today a smokehouse-game processing is a convenience. When Kroger’s isn’t available it’s a Potential Hatfields and McCoys situation.
Listed on the Smokehouse wall is expected shrinkage of meats from being smoked. Again, to remind good folks that a hanging deer of 80 pounds might weigh less after smoking.
A SIGN OUT of all meats removed from Smokehouse as witnessed by staff.
Processing of game at smokehouse is permitted as long as proper cleanup is done. (Hard enough to keep bears honest).
Simple and agreed upon by all users of the smokehouse. Disputes will be reviewed by smokehouse records.
Deuteronomy 19:15 – “A lone witness is not sufficient to establish any wrongdoing or sin against a man, regardless of what offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses”

This was designed to protect individuals from false accusations and to ensure justice.

Matthew 18:16 – “But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses”
Repeat offenders abusing the system will be removed from smokehouse use at Open Church meeting.
