IS IRAN A MAJOR SPONSOR OF TERRORISM?

The short answer is, “no!” The Iran of the 1980s, when Iran was very active backing the activities of Imad Mughniyeh, which included the bombings of the Marine Barracks in Beirut, two separate bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, and the kidnapping of a CIA Chief, a Marine Colonel and several other American residents of Beirut. But those were not carried out because “Iran hates our freedom.” Those attacks were a direct response to our policy in Lebanon and Israel. The bombing of the Marine Barracks and the U.S. Embassy in 1983, for example, was preceded by the US forces attacking Lebanese Muslims in the Bekka Valley as part of the Multinational Force in Lebanon. Following the November 1983 bombing of the Marines, the US pulled out.

I thought it time to revisit the past in light of what the present portends. It looks like the United States, once again, is going to embroil itself in Israel’s war against the Palestinians and, if the past is any predictor, will again find itself burying US military personnel.

I am attaching two pieces — the 2017 VIPS Memo and a 2020 blog posting. I co-authored the VIPS memo with Ray McGovern and am responsible for the 2020 blog posting. I think both are still relevant. Read them and let me know in the comments.

Thirteen of the 14 Muslim Groups identified by the U.S. intelligence community as actively hostile to the US are Sunni, not Shia, and are not supported by Iran:

– ISIS (Sunni)

– The Al-Nusra Front (Sunni)

– Al-Qa’ida Central (Sunni)

– Al-Qa’ida in Magheb (Sunni)

– Al-Qa’ida in Arabian Peninsula (Sunni)

– Boku Haram (Sunni)

– Al-Shabbab (Sunni)

– Khorassan Group (Sunni)

– Society of the Muslim Brothers (Sunni)

– Sayyaf Group in the Philippines (Sunni)

– Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan (Sunni)

– Lashgar i Taiba (Sunni)

– Jemaa Islamiya (Sunni)

– Houthis (Shia)

  1. This is the problem with a situation like this…. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. This false-dichotomy, fake-binary to the situation is invented and imposed to get you to accept the fact there isn’t an alternative solution. Same reason they’re going to kill thousands of US service members – they need causes belli to get the masses to support a war we shouldn’t even be involved in on the other side of the planet.
To quote the infamous Mike D: “PUT A QUARTER IN YOUR ASS CUZ YOU PLAYED YOURSELF!”
We’re all being played… and most people think they’re being patriotic. Inured to the state that is suppressing them. Makes me sick.

If the US had not been fighting Israel’s wars for the last 50+ years, none of this (or at least very little) would have happened. Simple as that.

If you keep shooting at people for the simple reason that you think you are better than they, eventually they WILL get organized and start shooting back.

Some of us have been paying attention to this since that day in November 1963. Others that are younger are also starting to notice.

    The tide IS turning.

If “People of the Book” (the self declared Evangelicals/eschatonistas) don’t start to realize that zionism and Christianity are mortal enemies, it may take longer.

The only place the Old Testament has in a gathering of the followers of Christ is as a dire warning and a harsh reminder of the true relationship of Christianity to zionism.

Sunni-Shia, potato-potahto. Islam is a political system disguised as a religion. Mohammedans want me and my family dead, as we are Bible-believing Christians. The real problem is all of the Karens and Beta Males in the “government school system” who are preaching woke toleration with this demonic belief system which ultimately wants to destroy America and Americans. One only has to look at Dearbornistan, MI to see America’s future if the Muzzies win. Bleib ubrig.

  4. I believe all muslim-controlled nations are a threat to Western Civilization. I propose that America goes back to the foreign policy of circa 1908 towards ‘those people’: minimal diplomatic involvement and no mohammedan immigration to USA.

I find a lot of this to be unbelievable, but that is me. If it is on the muslim cult it supports terrorism period. We, Christian American, are not compatible with the muslim cult. So someone has to go and until I am dead and gone it is going to be those pedo muslims. If you follow all the money trails it will at the very least pass through iran, hell they probably use all the billions obasturd gave them to terrorist. So to simply answer your question hell yes they do.

  6. OK. I agree with all of you who contend Islam is a problem for Western Civ. No argument from me. My position, however is, I think, a bit more nuanced. Rather than going to the Middle East and continually stirring up the hornets nest, why don’t we leave them alone and expel the Muslims in Western nations? That would seem more productive than wasting blood and treasure half a world away.

The evidence also seems to indicate that the Sunnis are the primary problem. We should remember that many Muslims are Muslims only due to conquest. The Persians appear to fall into that category and that’s why it seems they avoid terrorist activity. They’re not the ones killing children. That would be the United States and Israel.

    1. Agree, deal with the Muslims inside America. They are NOT a Religion as much as a Political Invasion force.

Those who are about to say something about freedom of religion tell me how many religions in America tell you cannot have Dogs or Pork because it’s Haram aka Filthy forbidden.

Maybe try to follow the found fathers’ ideas about not getting into entangling alliances (and thus fighting wars for (ahem) Israel.

      Odd factoid:

As of June 2026, there are 21 Christian churches in Israel.
Christianity is the third largest religion in Israel, with Christians making up about 1.9% of the population, approximately 185,000 people, most of whom are Arab Christians (75.8%)

Iran has over 650 Christian churches, including historic, ethnic, and active congregations.
Christianity in Iran is a minority religion, primarily represented by ethnic groups such as Armenians, Assyrians, and Chaldeans, with smaller communities of Catholics and Protestants

Over the past decade Christians have been getting more and more freedoms (sometimes just blind eye) from the Iranian government.

Christian politicians in Iran, such as President Masoud Pezeshkian and Cardinal-elect Dominique Mathieu, navigate a complex political landscape where Christianity is a minority faith facing significant challenges.

      and

There are currently no official or public Christian churches in Saudi Arabia. Current Status
Saudi Arabia does not allow the construction or operation of public Christian churches, as Islam is the only officially recognized religion and non-Muslim religious activities are strictly prohibited

Care to guess how many Christian Politicians are working in Saudi Arabia?

Care to guess which Muslim nation Trump is selling nuclear cooperation in? Including enrichment of uranium?
