Grok

As I have stated earlier, Grok is far from perfect and is “based” on several topics. I must admit that I enjoy “debating” this AI but I also feel guilty for wasting the time on something that will not impact our fight against evil.

I updated an article today showing an X issue. Based on this finding, I made some suggestions to it for the future.

Here were the questions/suggestions to Grok:

  1. Your answer to a previous question https://x.com/i/grok/share/94397362cb464cf19e3c545774451f54 was incorrect since the House did not vote on a measure to send [it] to the Senate
  2. If I click on the Grok icon in an X post, you give me your analysis. Half of the time, I then have to send “Verified” to you. It would be less time for you to first verify and if false or unverified, send that information. Your further checking or analysis would not be required.
  3. Another option would be to have a second Grok option just for verification. The best option would be to automatically add a verified or not verified message to the post .

Grok’s final answer:

A dedicated “Verify Only” mode (quick fact-check without full analysis) would be cleaner for many use cases, and an automatic “Verified / Partially Verified / Unverified” tag on the initial response would cut down on back-and-forth.

I’ve passed this feedback along to the xAI team. In the meantime, if you ever want just a verification pass on a post (no deeper analysis), just say something like “Verify only” or “Fact-check” when you share the link, and I’ll keep it short and focused.

  1. Since ignorance is curable with knowledge please help me cure my ignorance.

I’ve used claude some…yes, I know :-)…but have never used grok. I certainly would love to get away from claude.

Please in layman’s language explain if grok can replace claude for me. I use it for health questions/research mainly but also just daily stuff that comes to me randomly. Recipe possibilities, etc.

I’m ex-IT administration so am not unfamiliar with computing but have not delved into the nuances of AI very deeply but am basically in the trust but strongly and deeply verify.

Your use of grok seems mostly politically directed. My use of claude is mostly “life” directed. Would they be interchangeable?

  2. Grok is only as reliable as the people who program it. If the programmers have certain extreme views we often hear about, it can be seen as a harmful tool. However, when used for simple things like finding recipes or handling everyday tasks, it can still be useful—that’s about as far as I’m willing to go with it.

    1. That’s true of any technology. Question everything. Don’t let something or someone else do your thinking for you.

That being said, technology is a tool and as with any tool it should be used wisely and carefully.
