Let me paraphrase the words of President John Quincy Adams: “It is not the duty of America to prowl about the world looking for monsters to destroy.” All of this posturing about the Mullahs liquidating their opposition reminds me of the lies told during the run-up to Desert Storm, about the Kuwaiti babies being removed from incubators. I would think this whole Iranian clown show was orchestrated by a small country which has the Golden Golem by the you-know-what’s. And that same country has a vested interest in seeing Iran turned into a glowing cat box. Tell me if I am mistaken.

The US Navy possesses two types of ships…. surface targets and submarines.

Yeah–Trump blinked. And I think China is not going to lay down and take it up the backside by losing a major source of oil with Iran. Also I believe Iran is sitting on a massive stockpile of advanced missiles–only a fraction of which we saw in action when Israel was totally overwhelmed by swarms of Iranian missile attacks–which BTW caused possible 1/2 trillion dollars in damage to their country.

What the attack revealed to Russia, China and Iran was the limits of US and Israeli technology which was reveled by their responses to the Iranian missile attacks. Further attacks I believe will be even more massive using the advanced hypersonic, precision technology.

Israel is a very small country and it won’t take much to kick three legs out from its defense strategy.

  3. Maybe he blinked…maybe he listened to the Pentagon and is simply reassessing things and will make changes to the plan. We shall see.

  4. In the age of hypersonics and cheap drone swarms, the General above is correct – surface ships = targets.
Trump is clearly kicking back to the MIC, and is lost in a different paradigm.

Only a fool would attack Iran with a carrier battle group in the gulf of Oman; they are sitting targets. You would have to reposition them far from Iran before a strike. Carrier battle groups, as said above, are just sitting targets in a real war, and would be quickly sunk, accruing prestige to the sinkers. The American public will be in for a shock when they see 5 or 10 thousand dead from the sinking of a carrier or two. Subs with cruise missiles would fare better, or perhaps B somethings.

  6. Remember the board game, “Battleship”?

The Gulf of Oman is a bathtub and, in the age of hypersonic missiles, positioning our Armada in said Gulf will not require Iran, Russia or China to sink the entire Battle Group.

Yemen could do it by themselves.

Our admirals seem to be positioning to fight the previous war.

We invest in multi-billion dollar carrier groups whose defenses can be breached by $100,000 drones.

    Not smart!
