At what point in recorded history has mankind ever been free from some version of the aforementioned controls? Compromise is key. The fUSA kind of had it before the whiskey rebellion. It came and went ever since. The War of Aggression hammered harder, and the 1913 progressive wickedness suffocated it for good. Hard core balkanization is the most peaceful answer IMO.
