And We Also Are Paying for Most of Its Electricity and Water

It appears that they are trying to build a data center in Cherokee County NC. My wife is receiving emails from a women’s group trying to stop this from happening. I told her not to worry about it.

Data centers, AI and their associated debt pyramid scheme will crash and burn before many are completed. Those that are operational will have to compete against two factors:

  1. Improved chips and AI will make their operations obsolete in short periods of time. When this impacts their ability to pay back their loan debts, the banks will also fail.
  2. Elon Musk

There may be other factors that come into play such as sabotage both foreign and domestic. The first point will not only impact data center operations and banks: it will collapse the stock market and the US dollar.

The second point is the nail in the coffin. Elon Musk will have an AI network in space that is:

  1. Energy independent.
  2. Cooling independent.
  3. Easily constructed using his own infrastructure: chips, XAI, Starship and licenses.
  4. Decentralized
  5. Not dependent on banks and pyramid schemes.

So what happens when the next generation of AI from SpaceXAI renders data centers on Earth obsolete? The data centers and banks collapse. Musk and SpaceX stockholders become rich and the US government will have to make some serious decisions that will be contrary to the US Constitution and our founding principles.

  1. There is one behind where I work, you can hear it from the yard. It is noisy and annoying. It is also in an industrial park, where other loud, annoying things are located, away from Residential areas.
This isn’t a hard problem to solve, existing zoning-laws are more than capable tools of handling this. The fact that it isn’t, tells you there’s something else at work… Any one of these area’s could solve the problem for the residents by keeping the data centers to industrial parks and other area’s already affected by noise issues (e.g. all that useless space next to highways nobody wants to build houses on). But they don’t do that. They issue the permits in the middle of neighborhoods and build housing tracts along the highways.

    1. Absolutely. There is also he fact that there are scores of areas around the country that are neglected and abandoned, like closed military bases and derelict industrial sites, that could be used for these data center build outs (setting aside for a moment the fact that they are mostly a scam of the speculative financial markets) and which would not run up against stiff resistance from nearby residents.

Of course, the cost to clear these sites for reutilization is high, and these outfits would much prefer to bespoil virgin earth, like farm fields, as the cost to build there is far less. And yet, given the money being thrown at developing these facilities, another hundred million or so for site remediation is chump change.
