I’ll get a solid chuckle if he does get hung out to dry, he will have invited it, after all. And while I’d expect the demoncrats will try, I also expected them to do so once he was out of office the first time. Although they did hit him with plenty of process-is-the-punishment style lawfare, they certainly didn’t go all in, which was a curious wrinkle, IMHO.
Since the left has more or less captured the judiciary, they needn’t even worry about having solid cases and proper evidence against him, they can do as they wish and enjoy full legal cover from the system. In essence, they can act without restraint, and no one will stop them.

You are overlooking the fact that the left doesn’t play fair. If they want him, they’ll get him (and anyone else they choose to destroy) because that is what they do, and they have captured all the major institutions that have control over the process. The reason. I’ll find it amusing is that once upon a time, Trump shot his mouth loudly and frequently about taking down the bad actors. Having utterly failed to do that, he has left himself, his family and his associates open to sustained, unrestricted lawfare by the left. And it may even reach the point of an open revolt in which Trump is deposed, and we get our very own Bolshevik moment right here in the FUSA.
Trump could’ve crossed the proverbial Rubicon before the end of his first term, instituted martial law, and then gone about decimating the left by routing out their operatives and toadies anyplace he could find them. But, he pussed out on enacting the only solution he could’ve pursued that might have worked, and now the full wrath of the left will be unleashed to do as they will, either once they have control of Congress, or once he is out of office.
Really doesn’t matter to me anymore, both parties have made so much soiled toilet paper of the constitution, ane rules really mean nothing now. He who wields the biggest hammer (and the greatest thirst to crush his enemies) wins. Trump doesn’t have that, near as I can tell, so I expect him to eventually get crushed by leftists who have been working up a monster appetite for retribution. He could’ve been a contender, but instead chose to go off getting lost in the weeds over stupid shit that fixed none of the structural issues the country is facing. That will likely be his undoing.
