I have to agree with you. FYI–there’s this guy who runs I believe ‘Survivalist Boards’ –and he is part of this quasi-religious-apocalyptic thing which deals with moving to the ‘redout,’ which is a region in Idaho, Montana–yada, yada. A survivalist region. He’s been chiming about this for a few decades as well. This guy in the video has become quite boring lately. Economically–these fools who run the Fed and US government can funny-up the money in a million ways to cover up their screwups. A full scale collapse, in the realm of the Weimar would bring this country into total chaos–and TPTB will see their ends very much like Mussolini. Sooooo–they will do endless slight of hands moves with the ponzi-chit system (US dollar) to keep their heads… and the average person is just too stupid to realize what is happening to them (including most conservatives).

While I feel the same frustration, this time we have rampant cost push inflation in virtually all necessities, we (the government and corporate assholes, that is) have pissed away all the margin inn the system to handle any kind of shock, and we are in a far more unstable place in terms of war and military capability than we’ve been in probably my entire lifetime of 50 some odd years. So, while I’m reluctant to make a specific prediction, this time real does feel different.

Some Data points Dweezil.
I decided to add another 5 gallon pail with lid of salt for the storage.
18 months ago, 26 ounces of Iodized or plain salt Walmart Brand was 29 cents. A 5 gallon bucket with lid was about 3 dollars. I have recipts.
I could fit 12 containers in it with room for other spices like black pepper and so on.
Today 26 ounces of plain or Iodized Walmart salt was 1.27 and the bucket plus lid was a bit over 5 dollars.
So, Walmart salt went up about 400% in 18 months.
Plastic bucket with lid was 66% higher. (Maybe my math is off?)
Don’t know about you friend but my wages even with bonuses didn’t go up better than 16 percent. I’m blessed that I’m twice retired and have part-time EMS employment I enjoy.
I could go on but when I see way too many folks visiting my food bank running on worn tires and I know where they work and the cut hours offered it hurts a bit.
Our MAG-Church helps with firewood donations and deer meat but only goes so far.
Folks are HURTING out there. Once lower middle class with savings are now showing up as working poor trying not to use Walmart’s “Aspire” buy now pay over 4 months plans at every terminal.
They have kicked that economic can down the road almost as long as you and I have been adults.
Nothing like a business fire to “accidently” destroy all the problems of a failing business.

Agreed. And I remain amazed that things are still holding together as it stands presently. It can’t take too much more pain to push it over the edge, considering where we are now.

It has been a hard path and a long time for us hearing the doomsday prophesies. Why is it different now?
Younger people are now seeing it. More importantly they are feeling it. Watch the US Treasurys, the wars in Ukraine and Iran, and the stock market for timing. The rest is mainly distractions. Like being paid by our own tax dollars to vote for the Republicans in the midterms.
