This has been low hanging fruit for years. A Glenn Beck interview should not be the impetus for this action but it is a win for people. It is also a minor distraction and I wonder how long it will take to make a difference.
State collapse is inevitable when a society’s leaders are insulated from the negative consequences of their bad decisions.

In our state local laws allow small processing-sales.
Something the States should tell the Feds more often BTW.
That Trump makes this an announcement is nice but why?
The logistics of processing-grading-getting Inspections done in a reefer scenario (Ranchers DON’T have Massive Freezer Rooms just WAITING for this “announcement”) then MARKETING and Shipping..
Is not in the real world available today.
As useful as rainboots on a duck announcement.
BTW if Trump is bypassing Inspections is it to ALLOW low grade South American Beef into the system to the great annoyance of American Ranchers.
BTW even China has standards they refused Argentinian Beef recently:
China Rejects Argentine Beef Over Banned Antibiotic
China has rejected a 22‑ton shipment of Argentine beef after its customs tests detected residues of chloramphenicol, an antibiotic banned for use in livestock in both Argentina and China due to serious human health risks
. The shipment came from ArreBeef’s plant in Pérez Millán, Buenos Aires province, and was stopped by Chinese authorities on March 19, 2026. China then suspended all imports from that facility pending a full investigation
A bit like the previous one this week about the Grid and “No Foreign (aka China) parts will be allowed any more” nonsense.
We don’t make enough parts for our grid to keep up with minor storm damage let alone any “improvements”. SOMEBODY (ahem) destroyed Germanys ability to make enough grid stuff by destroying the cheap Russian gas lines..
So much WINNING….
3 words in there that get my hackles up “given the right”. Rights are not given.
I would say it would make a difference rather quickly.
I hope you are correct. The domestic supply of beef in the US is very low due to the monopoly and foreign owners.
Here is Grok’s synopsis:
Trump signaled he’s open to easing beef-processing rules so more ranchers and small plants can slaughter cattle themselves.
That won’t drop grocery prices fast.
The bottleneck is cattle numbers, not slaughter slots. The herd is at a 75-year low. Packers already have unused capacity.
Existing small plants might process more of today’s cattle in months. New plants take 1–3 years. Extra beef from herd rebuilding takes until 2028–29.
Short-term price relief is coming from imports, not deregulation. Processing changes are a long-term rancher/competition play, not a 90-day fix.
And of course, those 4 evil Meat processors are big Trump donors.
Wonder, why now and what’s really going on. Will the local ranchers suddenly be found to have contaminated beef and be shut down ending this debate forever. And to PROTECT Americans of course all meat must be done properly at the big 4 for all time.
Same as big Dairy saying you can’t buy raw milk from the local farmer because…you’ll die if you don’t buy it all processed from big dairy approved processing plants.
My beef comes from up the road from me. It is grass fed on the range its whole life, then comes in to be finished on corn. I pay the rancher. The rancher takes it to the local butcher down the road from them. He slaughters, hangs and ages then processes the beef according to the “cut sheet” I fill out for him. I show up when he lets me know that it is ready, pay him his fees and he loads it up in boxes into the back of my truck. I bring it home and fill my freezer(s). My cash money never leaves a 30 mile radius.
You have never tasted beef so amazing, either. The best way to describe the fat in the ribeyes is as if it was rolled in hot buttered popcorn. It is so incredibly good and has ruined me for anything storebought for life.
