Acceptable Losses

Acceptable losses is a strategic concept originally denoting the level of personnel fatalities, equipment destruction, or resource depletion that military commanders or planners deem tolerable to achieve overriding objectives, such as neutralizing enemy threats or securing territorial gains.  This threshold is calculated based on operational necessities and force sustainability, often serving as a euphemism to underscore that while such losses are regrettable, they do not undermine the broader campaign’s viability. The concept is rooted in utilitarian calculus, where aggregate gains justify bounded sacrifices, and contrasts with unacceptable losses, which could erode unit cohesion, political support, or combat effectiveness, prompting tactical adjustments or mission abortion.

Planned extermination refers to the systematic, intentional destruction of a specific group of people, such as civilians or prisoners of war, which constitutes a war crime or crime against humanity. Unlike acceptable losses, which are framed as unintended or incidental collateral damage or necessary tactical sacrifices within a broader conflict, planned extermination targets non-combatants for annihilation.

Governments today (including, but not limited to the United States government) now use mathematical calculations regarding “acceptable losses” to determine how best to achieve planned extermination. This aligns with a significant body of political science and historical analysis known as the “Ratchet Effect” or “Crisis Opportunism,” a theory posits that governments utilize crises—not merely to manage them, but to permanently expand state power, often justified by technocratic calculations of “acceptable loss.”

What this boils down to is that our lives mean nothing more to our government than a statistic in a calculation. This captures the central premise of this post: the transformation of human life into a variable within a state optimization function.

My premise holds true: we stopped being rights-bearing citizens and became data points. The government’s primary objective shifts from protecting every life to managing aggregate risk in a way that ensures regime stability and operational continuity. The “calculation” is not a tool for saving lives, but a mechanism for legitimizing the trade-off between human life and state power.

The idea for this post occurred to me today as I was taking a family member to see a new doctor in a nearby state, and it goes well with Roth Hubbard’s post here: https://appalachianrenegade.com/2026/07/30/the-end-of-freedom-the-last-breath-of-a-dying-continent/.

First, I had to work very hard to avoid the Flock Cameras, which was more difficult than you would expect and required a significant detour. While across the state line, I noticed a massive amount of road construction and widening, new shopping centers, and more traffic than I had seen in months.

I was wondering WHY there was so much construction for an area that really does not seem to warrant such expansion, and I came to the conclusion (perhaps correct, perhaps not) that this is being done to continue the illusion of the velocity of money, and promoting the lie that life is great as long as you work yourself to death, incur huge amounts of debt, and contribute to the tax revenue of the monster that once used to be a Republic. Then, I realized that people like me (the last of the baby boomers) are really no longer contributing to the money machine, and therefore no longer serve a purpose. I no longer [positively] matter (to them) and my continued existence is now moving toward becoming a burden rather than an asset to society (a source of tax revenue). Hence their demands that I be a good senior citizen and take my vaccines, get filled up on prescription medicines, eat poison food and watch quietly while the few resources I have are slowly inflated away. In other words, just go away and die, old man. Yeah, it went downhill fast. Hammers Thor experienced severe blackpilling today.

I have different plans. I am NOT vaccinated, I did not allow myself or my family to contract the man-made life-shortening disease covid, I do not take ANY prescription medication, and I rarely eat crap food. No matter how hard they try, I will NOT go gentle into that good night.

  1. Excellent article.

“The government’s primary objective shifts from protecting every life to managing aggregate risk in a way that ensures regime stability and operational continuity. I’d say we are at this point now. It does not matter who the President of the United States is, our government hates us and doesn’t give a damn if you live or die. It should be painfully obvious to those paying attention. Die off and give the gov your money.

There WILL be another planned-demic. Count on it. And the objective, in addition to greater fear-mongering, will be to exterminate as many as possible. It will save the gov lots of money!

    1. Nailed it. Whatever (((greater forces))) are directing the present military/foreign policy of the US, those who are supposed to be protecting the interests of actual Americans are instead beholden to whatever agenda is being handed down from on high by globalist scum. Clearly we, the proles, have zero input if we choose to play the game that was setup for us (that of voting for manufactured, preselected and approved political whores).

We could, in theory, bring the beast to it’s knees with a general strike. But the system has managed to leave so many people living hand to mouth that they cannot afford to participate in a strike, lest they literally starve to death in short order. And far too many people seem content to suffer endlessly under the status quo to take any action to shake it up, anyway.

The eventual solution will be the same one history reveals has been utilized every single time a paradigm shift had to take place, because the existing one was spent and could no longer survive: that of massive violence and destruction in the form of war. While that would provide an opening for the good guys (that’s us) to inflict major damage on those deserving of it for their role in the destruction of our country and culture, there is no assurance that we come out the other side as the victors. And even if we do, our losses will be horrendous, because they always are when war becomes the only remaining course of action.

Naturally, these bastards are already in the throes of creating a war scenario that they think will best serve their ends and objectives. The big card we have to play in that case is to refuse conscription. And when the press gangs show up in your neighborhood, shoot them in the face and then in the dick, for good measure. Once dispatched, take anything they have that can be recovered: vehicles, weapons, communications equipment, etc..

Find ways to hide your sons, nephews, younger cousins, even younger siblings, to keep them out of the meat grinder. In another thread earlier, Dweezil The Weasel spoke of establishing an “underground railroad” to protect young men from what is being planned for them yet again. God knows, such efforts need to be underway all over the country. Perhaps they are, but remain unspoken of for obvious reasons. About the only way we can exercise a veto over the bullshit the ruling class has gamed out for us is to deprive their bastard system of any resources we can manage to withhold.

      1. Question for you Brother if you had a hundred companies that each had a hundred employees what would be a more effective strike…One employee at each company striking, 10 employees at 10 different companies striking, or 100 employees at 1 company striking…Which scenario would the employees have the most power and probably get what they wanted??? Now extrapolate that to 50 States and tell me what that looks like…I know you know what I’m getting and I’m not saying you are so dumb that I have to write it out in crayon it’s more for those who are being deliberately obtuse but you have to understand my frustration with our side when they can’t see the numbers game or they are being deliberately blind to it so they don’t have to feel any guilt about the genocide being done to us…I really wish there was more honesty and self reflection/sacrifice from our side and a willingness to actually talk about real/effective solutions…

        1. I ponder how many times the Irish side of my family during the “Troubles” went into a nice PUBLIC PUB (aka Open Internet social media) to discuss ever so cleverly our plans to “strike”.

I know from stories how strangers trying to talk up actions got “disappeared” soon afterwards.

F2F, meat space, no cellphones, no Alexia, not done in modern automobiles.

          1. Realistically, I know an general strike is a pipedream. There’s no way to get it organized without being FUBAR’d by government goons, once it appears one has developed enough influence to present a real threat. And any such strike would have to be so large, and last so long (at least 2 quarters, and probably a full calendar year) before it became obvious to the whores in charge that the game was well and truly over. That makes it an even more unrealistic scenario, simply because there are but a handful of people who could maintain a commitment to such an action for a sustained period of time.

There’s also the fact that even if a general strike could be done, the govt will just print to fund their operations. Now, I have long operated on the supposition that if it reached the stage where there somehow was virtually no tax revenue being collected, and the government attempted to fund itself entirely on the naked emission of credit, that international markets would call their bluff and shut it down with the bond market dislocation.

And even though that’s a solid theory, I’m not so sure anymore that it would happen that way. It’s a very real problem that any action taken by other countries to try and end the outrageous profligacy of the United States government is essentially a mutually assured destruction move. There are so many US dollars in circulation worldwide, and so many US treasuries held by other countries around the world, that stopping the game and declaring the FUSA forfeit, blows up nearly everyone else’s economy, to at least some significant extent.

So, it appears there’s a real chance no counterparty will force an end to the ruinous fiscal policies of the FUSA, and we will do the proverbial Thelma and Louise right off the cliff. Yes, that inflicts enormous damage on everyone else with any real exposure, but my point is that nobody will willingly choose to set that sequences of events off with intent. They’ll simply keep hoping against hope the plates can be kept spinning, and will then try to absolve themselves of responsibility for the crash after it is an accomplished fact, by claiming no one could’ve seen it coming.

In the end, no matter how I try to game this scenario out, the only realistic end result is always massively destructive war. Historically, it is – without fail – the bitter pill that must be ingested because no other possible “fix” can be found. All of which is to say that the general strike theory is – ultimately – just more mental masturbation. I only really mentioned it because it has been suggested by others as a potential “peaceful way out”, but I can’t see how it would even happen, much less have the intended effect in reality.

And I haven’t even touched on the number of people (read: enemies in our midst) who actively want the status quo, because it provides their very existence, and/or suits their political ends for various and sundry reasons. There’s no getting any of them on board with an action that would reduce the funding, and thereby the power and control the govt presently wields.

  2. You’re not wrong HT. They’ve put up Flock cameras all around the complex where I live. Stupidly the base of the pole is bolted together, don’t even need a saw so no noise.

    1. Oh yes the Irish troubles which have no relationship to our troubles whatsoever but people still want to use that analogy…Also he was talking about a general work strike which was what I was referring too…

      1. Weird that was supposed to be a reply to Michael

  3. “I am NOT vaccinated, I did not allow myself or my family to contract the man-made life-shortening disease covid, I do not take ANY prescription medication, and I rarely eat crap food. No matter how hard they try, I will NOT go gentle into that good night.”

I’m on the same page. So’s my family. We have eyes to see and ears to hear. Burlingame suggests we’re merely human assets. Humans resources. Well, we’re more than that and it’s beyond time we simply disengage from their system to every degree possible. Resist.

  4. The powers that be have already facilitated the hobbling of the average American by making them believe they were going to die if not injected! I’m grateful so many saw through this facade early and remain “pure bloods”! We had no intention of ever signing up for that shit show! The next plan-demic and it’s coming will already have a following. Basically what has not died off from the 2020 mrna blitz, will come running to that cliff and happily jump off. All the while condemning those who still don’t trust ANYTHING the government and certainly what the media says. Meanwhile, get your stockpiles up to the rafters. Beans, bullets, bandaids and backups! Stay or get as self sufficient as you possibly can.
Soon, there has to be a reckoning, a break-down of the elite crushing the oppressed. It will most likely come in the form of a civil war or civil unrest. May us good Patriot types succeed!

  5. At this point I would consider Iran dropping a couple hypersonic missiles on Congress as acceptable losses.

    1. Acceptable? Hell, the complete destruction of every living creature in DC down to the last amoeba would be DESIRABLE losses. I’m not even sure they could be characterized as losses.

  6. […] has made a science of the study of Acceptable Losses. Most sources believe that Mao killed 65 million of his own people in the 20th century. THAT is […]
