Excellent This crap needs to be forced to an end, in a way that makes it beyond obvious that there is no further reason for the West/NATO to go on underwriting the “resistance”. If there is literally nothing left of the Ukrainian military, and it’s command and control structures, then the war is over, and our treasury can stop being raped to keep propping them up. While I understand Putin’s reasons for a measured attack, I really wish he would and could have done this much sooner. All the lives, money and weaponry wasted on this idiocy are a travesty. Especially for the losing side.
Putin realizes Russia is fighting NATO, partly by proxy as foreign troops and officers have been involved. His dilemma is can he stop with the Donbass or will he have to occupy all of Ukraine and risk open war with NATO? The British, French, and German governments desperately need war as their economies are collapsing. And they will try to pull us in or get their asses kicked.
Agreed. As I said, I understand his rather reserved style of fighting this war, so as not to provoke large scale open hostilities with NATO. And maybe he thinks collapse of the NATO powers is imminent enough he’s better off slow rolling it for now, as if Russia can outlast the moribund economies and politics of the US and the key European countries, he then (well, with China, anyway) has control of the whole board without ever having to face off directly against any of the NATO countries. There is certainly some wisdom in that approach, if that’s what’s actually going on.
