We used to go out to eat regularly. Not anymore. Bad food, highprices, bad service, small portions and hidden fees are the norm.

Best scam: getting charged for two toppings on a half and half pizza.

    And yet in my A/O the sheeple, normies, cucks, Mall Zombies, and .gov remoras are still lining up at the Taco Bell drive-thru, coffee kiosks, and Mickey D’s. And no snarks about Taco Bell patrons needing constipation remedies! The elephant in the room, if you will, is that the local family-run burger joint (real Idaho beef), will give you a discount if you pay cash. Being a geezer, it just boggles my mind that people do not have enough cash on them to pay for a quick meal. Weimar 2.0 is definitely on the horizon. Bleib ubrig.

  3. I have significantly curtailed my eating meals out ever since COVID initially forced me to, due to dine in closures. That habit change just stuck after that, and the pedo joey era inflation only aided in keeping me from gradually going back to eating so many meals out. I do still eat out periodically, but it has gotten very costly, and I’ve gotten very selectively on where I’ll spend that money.

    For fast food, Culver’s is about the only place I’ll go anymore, all the mainline outfits (McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Burger King, Wendy’s, Hardee’s) have all fallen off so badly that I’ve not gone to most of them in years now. For sit down meals, there are maybe a half dozen places I’ll go. One is a barbecue place that has maintained consistent food quality, but to eat there all in (with tax and tip) will easily run me $30-35 for just myself. That’s for a decent sized meat platter with two sides and a soft drink. A burger there is a bit less all in, but also only comes with one side.

    There’s a Mexican restaurant a few minutes from my home that is very good, and maintains an excellent facility (it is nicely decorated and has a much nicer atmosphere than most others around). Their food is consistently good and portion sizes have remained unchanged (so far) on any of the entrees I typically order. Again though, it’s going to run me $28-30 all in for a mid range entree (the fajita plate add about $5 more, being one for their most expensive items), drink, tax and tip. Entrees usually come with rice, refried beans, shredded lettuce and tomato, sour cream and guac (though I decline the latter). Their service staff is very good as well, unlike so many sit down chain restaurants.

    I just went there Sunday, and enjoyed it. Paid $30 in cash that included the tip. I just can’t afford to do that on a regular basis anymore, so maybe once every two weeks.

    Another place I like to go still is a local quasi-Italian deli that does both pasta and sandwiches. They make a very good sliced roast beef sandwich in cheese garlic bread. I can make two meals out of that sandwich, which makes the $20 or so it costs me (with a drink for eat in) a little easier to accept, and I take half the sandwich home for leftovers.

    It is pretty much universal now that soft drinks cost at least $2.75, and often $3.00 or more. Clearly restaurants are padding their margins with this practice, as a means of not having to increase pricing on entrees and sides even more than they already have.

    1. I quit eating at places that want me and mine replaced…Seen to many places that started out with one mexican joint and then one by one the American ones went out of business and pretty soon all the choices were mexican…It’s all about numbers and mexicans will always patronize mexican so do the math…
