I don’t think that video passes the sniff test. FWIW, Grok analysis also casts doubt.
The F-35 was hit and damaged but the plane was able to land at a friendly base.
BFD. So, one of our gazillion-dollar flying Edsels allegedly takes some triple-A damage and lands safely. Wake me up when they start getting blown out of the sky on a regular basis.

The pilot is in stable condition sounds to me like badly burned or otherwise injured. I have always heard medical conditions reported as critical but stable. or guarded by stable, etc. It strikes me that they are leaving out a key descriptive status.
Anyway, this probably means we are running short of standoff JASSM missiles and our tactical aircraft have to spend more time over Iran to hit what they want to target. 20 days of hitting police stations, Basij checkpoints, obsolete gen2 and 3 fighters sitting in a boneyard, decoys, and decommissioned warships with JASSM’s in order to fluff up the score for the daily CENTCOM briefings could cost us a lot of pilots here on in.
CENTCOM won’t say, but the video suggests a loitering drone is guiding some kind of missile into the F35 that was innocently enjoying our uncontested air supremacy over Iran. Most of the footage of their attack drones downing US and Israeli loitering drones has been first person view from suicide drones. Not a good development in either case. The Russians are saying it is probably an SA-67 loitering AA drone. Probably nothing to worry about though. If this was really a foretaste of a 21st Century unmanned air force engaging an obsolete 20th Century manned air force we would be smart enough to know it if we saw it. We have the smart guys from the Pentagon working on it after all.
That video is almost certainly CG propaganda. While an F 35 might have sustained shrapnel damage of some type that video showed what would have been a direct missile hit which would make the plane incapable of returning to base….and reports are the plane did return to base. The video is BS propaganda….and Iran got very lucky to even damage one.

I agree with your assessment of the likely damage inflicted in the video. I was willing to chalk that up to some unexpected survivability for the F35. There is of course the pilot being injured enough to make a report of it, which suggests more than light damage to the aircraft. I am doubtful that this plane was simply unlucky and flew low over some AAA. The JASSM shortage will mandate employing JDAMs, which are released at altitude and glide 50ish miles to the target. There really is no good reason for an advanced delivery platform like the F35 to fly low enough anywhere over Iran to be engaged by Soviet era AAA guns. Unless of course the S-300 system is not as out of action as we have been led to believe. If that is the case and our strike aircraft are taking evasive action for SAMs, then maybe that could explain why they got lucky this time. If you are right, the sortie rate will remain high and there will be no further news from either side about our losses
Just to let everyone know–there is no such thing as ‘stealth’ capabilities. All of these ‘stealth capable’ planes, down to the B2 bombers are easily detectable with WWII style long-wave radars…. which since WWII have greatly been improved in sensitivity and detection since that era. They see these planes coming a long way off BTW.
I’d be surprised if Iran didn’t manage to hit a few of those flying turds.
