Let’s talk about the missile that hit the school in Iran, because it’s a masterclass in how media propaganda works

From the article:
“I want to present this as objectively as possible, but first, let me note that the framing of the story relies a lot on the typical media formula:

“NBC News spoke on the phone with a father who said his 8-year-old daughter, Zahra, was killed…” = Let’s end with a sad story of a random Iranian man so the audience really hates Trump.

“Verified by NBC News” = Trust me, bro.

“Adding evidence, experts say, than an American missile likely hit…” = We have no actual proof.

“…hit a compound once home to a military base” = This is a buried lede, please don’t pay attention to it.

“Weapons expert Jeffrey Lewis” = Here’s a left-leaning DC thinktank nerd to make our scant evidence seem more concrete than it is.

“4 other weapons experts, who agree” = Trust me bro, Part Dos.”

PLEASE see the entire article here…

This is a reasonable article that considers several possibilities. More than one thing can be true at the same time.

  1. I still have not gotten over the killing of Gaza children, Syrian children, Libyan children, Iraqi children, Afghani children by American bombs and missiles. Lest we forget what Madeline Albright stated. “It was worth it.”

  2. Let’s really talk about what matters, regardless of whether we will ever know the truth:

Israel sure as hell could care less how many children die in this. For them likely the more the merrier.

Trump ONLY CARES in as much as it impacts perception of this war that already lacks majority support, including among the folks who voted for him.

  3. Agreed, this is a psy ops, to convince us, no matter what , that Trump is wrong or that we should support Trump for Israel. Either way nothing is about us, it’s about them

This is nothing but a propaganda coup for the Mullahs. “War means fightin’ and fightin’ means killin’” – H/T to Nathan Bedford Forrest. The loss of innocents in any conflict is sad, but if you look at the fact TPTB in Iran did not take any steps to evacuate and/or protect their innocent civilians, then I cannot get too upset over this unfortunate loss of life. I did not see or hear the MSM getting all nutted up when that carload of innocent family members was targeted by one of Obama’s drones. It all depends on whose Ox is getting gored.

Oh–I see, they took no steps to evacuate civilians…. DURING A SURPRISE SNEAK ATTACK. I suppose they should have employed psychics to predict this attack upon them–right? Oh and what about the second attack 40 minutes later when the area was filled with rescue personnel trying to dig out the victims (children) from the rubble.

      1. Correction. The people who were trying to rescue the children and teachers were other teachers and their fathers who were stationed in the military base. That is why they call it a double tap.

As I previously posted in response to another story about this tragedy, Trump does, in fact, have blood on his hands. I did not research the incident to the extent that this attack occurred on the very first day. I was operating under the assumption Teheran had already been hit and the Mullahs allowed the children to be a target as a propaganda coup. My bad. I apologize.

    2. It is a war crime to attack a school. Based on other comments from you, I believe you should reconsider your comment.

So let me get this straight… the Iranians attacked this school at the very moment the USA began our attacks–and the Iranians used Tomahawk missiles as well–attacking twice, 40 minutes apart. And I am supposed to believe this rubbish

    1. So are people trolling this site or are we so unwilling to acknowledge the evil of our government? Maybe both but one point to consider: we are in the end game. This means that decisions will be made on all levels in this country. When local communities start coming together, stupidity and propaganda will not be tolerated.

  6. Being that I have no way of knowing the truth about this incident (the girls school middle attack) and cannot trust either side to give me accurate and truthful information about what actually happened, I can only speak of it in hypotheticals.

If Iran fabricated this attack (or really carried it out themselves) then shame on them. If the US actually blew it up (and realistically, we’ll never know for sure what happened) that’s just as shameful. We are now being told from some sources that the school was “double tapped”. Whether this was by intent, or a byproduct of piss poor intelligence that led to choosing the wrong target is also an subject of much debate, but the point is moot; it is still a disgrace if the US actually hit it, and makes us look really bad. Since perception (managed via propaganda) is reality for most people, right now we really aren’t looking good.

It goes without saying that the media whores will talk their book, NBC, et al by smearing the US (as is their modus operandi at all times) and Fox either attempting to justify, or even smugly glamorizing it, are all equally disgusting.

War is serious and terrible business, even when truly necessary. It should not be spoken of gleefully and in gloating, celebratory terms as we are seeing here presently. It’s a bad look, childish and tactless. That such has become de rigueur in the discourse of this matter is not at all flattering to the US. And trash talking is even more grotesquely stupid, when the success of the mission is not yet assured.

Even if this mess is ultimately militarily victorious in favor of the US, we will have incurred such terrible economic and reputational damage in the process as to make it pyrrhic. The very least these idiots could do is to stop going on TV and running their mouths like they just won a football bowl game.

Are Americans now believing that the US would intentionally target a girl’s school? Even if the US was horribly evil, would be waste our dwindling supply of Tomahawks to kill little girls instead of stuff we really need to get rid of, like Iranian military leadership, drone facilities, etc.? Are we to start believing now that Muslims consider little girls precious and the West does not? Bueler? Bueler?

The only solid conclusion I get from this is that this is a war for minds.

    1. Does the West consider little girls precious? The same little girls who have been aborted by the hundreds of millions now? The same girls our society hypersexualizes at far too young an age, causing them all manner of psychological and emotional damage in the long term? The same girls we send to college en masse, which is now little more than an indoctrination program to poison their minds with leftist claptrap, and turn many of them into unpaid whores for football jocks and frat boys?

The same girls who were victimized by the ruling class, and whose victimization at their hand continues to go unpunished in the Epstein affair? The same girls, who as adults, are using prescription antidepressants at a purported rate of at least 25%, with many more regularly self medicating with alcohol and weed? The same girls who now pass through their childbearing years, without ever fulfilling that biological imperative on a huge and now society destroying scale because their minds have been poisoned by a society that programmed them with absolute garbage, leading to their inability to be satisfied with marrying a man who isn’t far above their own station in life, so that they become bitter, cat lady spinsters? Ok, go on and tell me how much we value them based upon the reality of their existence.

Let us not break out arms patting ourselves on the back over our superior moral standing. Are we better the Iranian mullahs? Sure, but that isn’t a high bar to clear, and from where I’m standing, we can’t brag about valuing life here to such a great extent that we can portray ourselves as light years ahead of pisslam. There are major differences in the sorts of abuses we engage in, but we can not claim to be doing an excellent job in the valuing of life here, girls of any age included.

The other problem is that we know our ruling class has lied to us repeatedly and on a huge scale, concerning so much shady shit they’ve done (for which they naturally always have some manufactured justification, provided they even officially acknowledge their bad acts) and that this state of affairs has gone on so long now that the truly objective thinkers have no choice but to consider that an incident like the school attack could actually be the result of either incompetence or malicious intent by our own government. There can no longer be any accomodations made in giving these people the benefit of the doubt. If our government wished to remain trustworthy, they should’ve stayed honest. They failed to uphold that standard, and so I cannot just believe what they present me at face value, as the default position.

Yes, it’s more likely that the school attack was staged by Iran as either a outright fabrication (or a real attack with real deaths involved) to use against American interest, but we cannot be naive in refusing to at least consider the alternative. We are a very long way from having our own house in order, and while all of this may offend your sensibilities, we have no one but ourselves to blame for the sorry state of our government being riven through with liars and bad actors whose motives are anything but pure and upstanding. And since societal standards are de facto established by the prevailing attitudes of it’s collective make up, we are clearly not in a good place as goes the public at large.

I can’t believe you wrote this comment.

  8. Maybe it was an errant US missile….maybe it was an Iranian munition that malfunctioned…maybe it was the IRGC deliberately blowing the school up. It’s simply not possible for us to know for sure. Smart money however is on it being an Iranian caused event. Either a screw up or willing murder to support their propaganda efforts.

  10. I don’t recall where I saw it, and I’m not saying it’s correct, but someone apparently did photo analysis of the missile and claims it doesn’t fit a US armament profile as far as fin angle and some other measurements. True? Who knows?

    1. Seriously? The US government admits they did it and you write that comment?
