Appalachia will survive?
While I love my battered copy of the Foxfire series…
Do they mine their own iron for weapons and tools?
Dig and process the sulfur for the black powder? Scavenge saltpeter from straw soaked urine like the Confederation did? Charcoals easy enough. I’ve hunted with homemade black powder and flintlock.
Make primers, dig and process lead for those new style rifles?
Does Dupont supply them with reloading powder?
When the semi’s stop running the GOOD thing is the DRUGS that corrupt that area will stop. The Bad thing is starvation will occur.
Part of my family tree LEFT Appalachia during the Great Depression, and I still have remote family there I meet occasionally.
If you’re going to establish a White Colony, you’re going to have to keep out drugs, keep enough population that relatives don’t breed each other (just the facts as I KNOW the genetic diseases of Appalachia) AND have INTERNAL Industry to trade-sell to others for the MANY Modern Products seen in that Video.
You know, gasoline, oil and filters, electricity, medicines, Dupont powder and primers and food beyond dirt farming.
Grid down some of Appalachia WILL Survive, a lot will die off. I’m not sure I’d want to become a dirt farmer who knows a single bad spring will be starvation.
The hardships and lack of materiel apply to all areas. People living under hardship now will have a better chance to survive.
We always have. And we always will.
