Gold smells trouble and it is the collapse of the US dollar. Congress and Trump have been trapped by greed, incompetence and Israel. You can’t eat gold but you can’t eat fiat currency either.
State collapse is inevitable when a society’s leaders are insulated from the negative consequences of their bad decisions.

The US 30 year bond is weak as yields rise. The link with the Yen Index (vs FX basket) is rising. Hence Bessent sees a weak yen dragging down US Treasuries, thus increasing the US cost of borrowing. You need deep pockets to maniputale a currency… ask the… pic.twitter.com/3wcs6Ovd5T

It was almost 40 years after Frank the cripple stole all Americans gold until it was legal to own again.
Cant eat it, or silver, blah blah blah.
If you’ve been long term stacking metals, you’ve also probably been able to afford guns, ammo, and food.
If nothing else, your stacking can be passed to your next generation of family. Kids, grandchildren, etc.
YMMV.
Chris mostly I agree with you, however.
Remember when the COVID supply chain disruptions occurred.
No amount of money nor PM’s could get what wasn’t on the shelf.
Economic chaos tends to screw up supply chains. As an example, there may be plenty of wheat in the fields but is there enough diesel available locally for the farmer? Enough Natty gas for the dry down processing at the grain lift? Enough Road SAFETY and Diesel for the trucker to bring it to the baker? Is there enough Social Safety that HUNGRY Rioters screaming for Bread are not surrounding that Bakery?
Many of the above situations occurred in Venezuela where the Bolivar was so worthless they weighed it instead of counting it when grocery shopping. Disruptions became so common that near starvation and eating their Zoo Animals actually occurred.
SMUGGLERS would take PM’s like wedding rings and such for trade in food and meds BUT they had a network to smuggle it out of country and import-bribe the police more stuff.
As you might guess Smugglers didn’t give you a great deal for your gold ring.
Right now, to currently to buy more guns, ammo, food (and I’d add repair stuff for your home, spare oil-filters for the cars and so on) WITH PM’s I have to go to some TRUSTWORTHY buyer and get FIAT Dollars for that trip to Amazon-Walmart and so on.
But I’ll use PM’s to trade for a side of beef? Well unless that Farmer can SELL those PM’s to a TRUSTWORTHY buyer for FIAT Dollars He cannot buy feed, Fencing, vet meds and so on from Tractor Supply.
That PM’s need to be accepted all the way UP the supply chain like currently credit cards (Fiat E-mail) or Fiat Dollars somewhere a TRUSTED Buyer has to convert it.
Key issue is TRUSTED. Implying Rule of Law. As not to be simply robbed by the “buyers” deniable thugs.
Thus the “simplistic” you can’t eat PM’s friend.
Gold and Silver are excess wealth storage and require Rule of Law to be changed into real things like a newly drilled well.
BTW earlier this year I traded 2 Krugerrands I bought almost a decade ago for a new well and solar pump installation. BUT the fellow I traded with didn’t NEED to convert those Krugerrands for daily expenses, he had enough Fiat Dollars for that.
He was just setting aside those Krugerrands as a wealth storage against future devaluation of Fiat.
Hey congrats on the well and solar array deal! That’s awesome. You’re not wrong on your thoughts, I share many of them myself. Interesting times for sure.
What about Goldbacks. Anyone thinking about or looking at those. Denominations are similar to fiat, only thing is premiums right now are high. Real gold in them so if more people are aware maybe easier to deal than a 1 ounce Eagle???
I’ve looked at Goldbacks. Very high premium

When and IF American’s rebuild America back into something the Founding Father might recognize it’s going to be tough to establish “Real Money” after Joe 6 pack sees the banking system goes down in flames.
I purchased a bunch of Goldbacks in various denominations back when gold was “cheap”. Price for one Goldback then was about $3.00. Like any other form of gold these are long term wealth and are being accepted by some businesses in a few states, such as Florida. They could form the basis for a new currency when fiat collapses just as silver quarters, dimes, war nickels, and old copper pennies may. People will have to learn a hard lesson that hard money is better than fiat promises.
