I’m not even sure I can respect this effort. These two have to know by now that any further legislative effort at forcing disclosure and investigation if the Epstein matter is a complete waste of time. The only thing that will compel any if these sonsabitches do turn on each other and start spilling the beans is the really and imminent threat of death at the hands of an angry citizenry.
And they will only feel that sort of heat after some number of their colleagues have already been picked off, to help convey that new reality. Further, since nobody wants to buck up and start that party, nothing will come of this. Again. It’s all just performative at this stage, much sound and fury meaning nothing.
Sometimes I have to replace an issue with how it pertains to a hypothetical instead of reality. In our Republic, Congress is responsible for drafting and enacting laws. The President is responsible for enforcing these laws. Take the Epstein issue out of this issue and replace it with a “law”. Congress passed a “law” which the President has decided not to enforce. If an elected official or branch of government is not doing their respective duty, what should happen?
The Supreme Court is another example where they have turned into an activist body who render opinions based on blackmail, fear and power. Again, what should happen?
Trump has issued executive orders, supported proxy wars and started a war against Iran: all fall under the purview of Congress. Activist judges make rulings outside of their jurisdiction or ability. Congress will not approve Presidential appointments and block recess appointments through legal maneuvers.
So our checks and balances are not in place. Maybe the Obama Deep State can change this charade of a Republic bound by the Constitution.
They all goes to my point. Instead if trying another legislative dead end they know won’t work, get an impeachment going for repeated abdication of Trump’s responsibility to enforce the law as head of the executive branch. Sure, it’s probably dead in the water, but it would mean more as a symbolic gesture than this present effort.
I agree. The President will not release the Epstein files as required by law. There is only conclusion that would make him do this.
I believe the conclusion is that MANY of his so-called “friends” are criminals. I am not talking about who is in the emails, heck, anyone could be named in emails, it’s who actually committed the crimes against young women and children. Add in trafficking, money laundering, tax evasion, etc and there are enough crimes to prosecute these monsters.
IF we had a functioning doj, perhaps we’d see results. Since we have nothing resembling a sound, constitutionally intact judicial system, well, we are seeing in real time what “just-us” looks like.
So if the engine is blown, the transmission fried and the body rusted from bumper to bumper; is it best to rebuild knowing there are no reliable parts available, or replace the conveyance with something that works?
