For those who think I am making this up, Toyota is about to release a service bulletin stating you can temporarily use 0w20 in lieu of 0w8 and 0w16 because the Shell Pearl GTL facility at Ras Laffan Qatar is completely offline and we are going to run out of 0w20 soon. Dang, I was in O’Reilly’s the other day and the Mobil 1 was on sale so I bought some – just in case, even though I’m still a ways from my next oil change.
I bought over a dozen 5 quart jugs of 5W30, 10W30 and 5W20 that were on closeout last year, that covers all my vehicles for the next 1.5 to 2 years worth of oil changes, maybe longer for a couple of them that see infrequent use. Didn’t pay more than $15 for any one jug, a couple were as low a $12. If I see a markdown deal like that again, I’ll stockpile even more. But my filters on eBay usually, when I find a real good deal to stock up. 4 of my 5 vehicles use the same oil filter type, makes it easy.
Good idea to get oil and filters for at least a couple changes. Especially if you have a newer vehicle that uses 0Wsomething oil. New air filters too if you’ve got a turbo charged engine, they get dirty fast.
Yeah, good to stock up. Walmart already has almost no oil filters, I guess it will extend to oil pretty soon .
