yeah. great. one problem I have with it. you can not eat it. it will not heat your home or fuel your car/truck. metals will be used AFTER shit hits the fan. but it going to take a while to settle back down.
until that happens, I not going to trade a can of tuna for a silver coin I can not eat. food and fuel hold their value in the long run besides keeping your butt alive. I mean, I do have a little silver, not much really.
but I do keep a fair bit of stuff on hand. canned foods. fuel for my truck and generator say. and ammo. lots of ammo. as there will be mobs of people without anything wanting what little I have.
funny thing, last week I pulled out a coffee can I had bought 2 maybe 3 years ago. 3 pound can for 16 bucks. now the same can is 26 last time I was at the store. even got the wife onboard with overstocking

Agree. And be sure to rotate through your emergency stash often so it doesn’t expire. I still have a lot of stuff in the basement storage area that I picked up after the big 2020 election steal that’s nearing or past the “expiration” dates.
And more importantly, make sure you stock up on things that you’re gonna like to consume, even under normal circumstances. A lot of our SHTF food would keep us alive in the end times, but unfortunately most canned goods, including canned meat, generally tastes like crap… Which explains why a lot of my stash is expiring.
while I do have some mountain house canned food. most of what we stock is everyday canned food that we used all the time.
canned meats are either hit or miss. best to try and find out which ones you have no problem eating. I made up quite a few meals using nothing but canned food. some have pasta or rice added to them.
same deal with canned veggies. find out NOW what you can and enjoy eating. I don’t care what it is, if you don’t like it, you will not eat it unless you are starving (?)
beef in a can goes very well when made into a stew or mixed with rice and veggies. I also have learned how to “cook” meals on our woodstove. that takes a bit of trial and work. but Lodge cast iron
seems to work very well for stews and the like.
one thing to have on hand is spices. remember for close to 400 years in Europe, a ounce of black pepper was worth a ounce of gold ! and one can see why too. spices can make or break a meal. bland food is not something people want to eat.
and damn sure not every day !
so, most of what they call long term storage foods have no real appeal for me. 25 years of beans and rice will last forever as you will shoot yourself after a couple of months of nothing else but it
I have calendar reminders to tell me when some stock is a couple months from expiration. I take those items to a local food bank where I know they’ll get used. And definitely have some vacuum packed spices and lots of salt. Not the commercial stuff like Mortons, those have a lot of extra unhealthy stuff in them. Coarse sea salt and a grinder is best, I find.

I am very well covered in basics including clan,still working on “skills” but that tis a lifetime thing.
I suggest metals to folks after they have covered basics like food/med/clothing /tools/etc. along with building skills and clan.

As I was shopping two days ago, I noticed that the “cheaper” Paper Price today is more than made up by the INCREASED Premium to buy even the “cheap gold”.
THEN try to sell your gold at anything better than 90% spot (aside from “collectables” with insane premiums to buy) to buy groceries today.
Gold and Silver are ways to PRESERVE EXCESS Wealth. Until they are actual units of MONEY to exchange for car tires and diesel (I.E. 100 gallons of Diesel for 1/4 ounce gold on station signage) they are not money.
Cans of spam, coffee, heirloom seeds, good tools, books of useful knowledge (a lot of SKILL is starting with the right basic information and tools PLUS time and effort) have better return on investment for those that follow Grahm’s Killhouse Rules.

You are 100% correct. Fungible silver may become currency someday, Goldbacks may become currency one day. Currency is the store-of-value you trade day-to-day. 1-ounce gold coins are a way to secure and stabilize one’s excess wealth from currency fluctuations.
If you have savings, extra money, arguments are being made today to convert retirement savings, you can and should buy gold/silver. The USD collapse is a foregone conclusion at this point in the game folks, diversify your wealth OUT of USD denominations. Your 401k is a USD denominated asset.
I’m almost 60. I still remember Montgomery Wards in my small town accepting pre 65 90% silver coins as payment. Yeah, that was a long time ago, I believe it will return again.
Will sound (backed by SOMETHING) money come back? When real Rule of Law is again the law of the Land.
