Not a very BIG protest, is it?
They’re walking on the sidewalk, not down the middle of the street, but there are no cars driving, either.
In the background, you can see a photog trying to keep up with them – the news was alerted before the march.
You can see a column of marchers across the street as well. Looks like its about 100-feet long. Not a whole lot of people. I could easily pull that many marchers out of 2 or 3 of the local churches around here, and I don’t even attend!
I smell a psy-op.
The UN speech situation is over now, onto the next phase. See how Iran paints themselves. Not that they’re wrong to do so, but… what are the odds this is a photo-op, and not a legit protest? Pretty high IMO.
The fact that these people can march without harassment from the government is noteworthy so that gives credence to the idea of a photo-op. But why so many and on both sides of the street. Careful positioning of the camera could make it appear larger than it is without coordinating so many people. Doesn’t matter how large the attendance is and notice no one is wearing a mask so their identities are well known. It could be a photo-op, but to what purpose. If Iran has the second largest Jewish population, why is Israel so intent on bombing it out of existence.
From personal experience (my one and only march participation) we notified the local newspaper in advance so they would cover the story and though there were few of us carrying signs, we got a lot of honks from passersby supporting out objective.
Maybe their gathering is really a show of tolerance and cooperation between two diverse religions and not a protest. I wonder how many other cities in Iran had a similar turnout but weren’t mentioned. Whether it was a protest or a demonstration of getting along, they respected the law of keeping to the sidewalks and not obstructing traffic, unlike the hired goons in our country that protest with theft, arson, and intimidation.
