State collapse is inevitable when a society’s leaders are insulated from the negative consequences of their bad decisions.

Well, I was about to post the article, but see you’ve put up the X posts by the same author, so I’ll just link the article here: https://www.theepochtimes.com/tech/ai-researcher-resigns-warns-of-dangers-6084967
I’m looking at the AI threat as being parallel to a grid-down event… the issue I see is this… I have been a strong proponent of decentralization and independence from government and corporations for a very long time. AI has two components that can pose a significant threat… the massive data centers cataloging, analyzing and directing our behavior, either with our knowledge or covertly, without our active knowledge, and every single networked computer, and even more especially every “smart” phone (interesting that’s what they call them, huh…) that can work together as a computer “mesh” processor, networked together, (hence the issue with decentralization) likely without our awareness… do YOU honestly know who or what your phone or internet connects to and accesses every time it’s online? Do you look at the logs? How many times a minute does your device phone home to Google, Apple, or Microsoft? There is a lot of data there, including your location, down to the foot, what you buy, what you peruse online, and who is in your contacts list. How many contacts’ lists are you in? If this doesn’t give you at least a bit of a stomach ache, you’re already dead.
So, whether the grid goes down, or you are simply blocked from accessing anything online, or perhaps EVERYONE is, the end result is the same. No network, no gas, food, hospital care, or emergency services. We’ve seen what happens when the network goes down due to a software glitch at Walmart. Multiply that by days, region or nationwide, and after about 12 hours the grid will completely fail anyway.
Keep food in your pantry, water filters, and gas in your vehicle, and have a reliable way to communicate with family and friends that does NOT require a cell phone or landline. Radios. Several of them. Learn about directional antennas to extend the range of your radios. They’re not expensive, either the radios or antennas. But they CAN help you stay alive.
Well, that was a heck of a run-on sentence above, and not very well written at all. I’ll try to proofread better in the future.
The fact that Idiocracy and the Terminator get left out of so many Venn Diagrams is a mystery. Clearly Idiocracy since Obama was first elected, and the Terminator practically since the invention of the internet.
