Good. Now we can scrub all these needless (to us, not to the ruling class) data centers that were planned. Since Elon has conceded that battle to China, how about trump comes out and cedes the Ukrainian matter to Russia, and tells Israel that Iran is their problem now, we’re out. A man can dream a little bit, can’t he?
Yes, energy cost is a constraint in freedom, so it’s no coincidence that what already compromised but remaining freedom we still have is being heavily attacked.

The Chinese don’t have the handicap of thousands of ridiculous regulations and baseless lawsuits when building energy infrastructure. It takes some 7-10 years to even start building a nuclear power plant because of all the legal BS a company has to get thru and that extra cost will be included in the electricity bill you receive.

Right you are. And this is one of the reasons I’ve told AI fanboys this stuff can never happen on the scale or timeline being bandied about. This country is too sclerotic and over the hill to fast track any of what would be needed to hit the targets being discussed. The power infrastructure just isn’t there. And they won’t be running these without prime power, as the cost of running natgas or diesel gensets 24/7/365 cannot possibly pencil out. They aren’t made for that duty cycle anyway, so maintenance would be a nightmare.
