Cybele Mayes-Osterman, a reporter at the USA Today, wrote a story on April 16 that buried the lede… The enlisted personnel on board ships deployed to the Iranian war zone are not being adequately fed. Her article — Cookies, deodorant, socks. Iran war puts military packages in limbo — carried a misleading title, most likely the decision of editors eager to give cover for the failure of military and civilian leaders to ensure the sailors and Marines on board ships puttering offshore of Iran are being properly fed.

Her article starts with testimony from family members about the terrible food:

Dan F. was alarmed when his daughter, a Marine aboard the USS Tripoli, a warship deployed to fight the Iran war, sent him a photo of a meal served on the ship. A lunch tray, two-thirds empty, carried one small scoop of shredded meat and a single folded tortilla.

A picture of a mid-April dinner on the USS Abraham Lincoln, shared by a service member with his family, was similarly unappetizing – a small handful of boiled carrots, a dry meat patty and a gray slab of processed meat.

Dan and other military family members worried that their loved ones deployed to the Middle East are going hungry are filling boxes with items they hope could help service members ride out prolonged deployments in the Middle East – homemade fudge, Jolly Ranchers, crossword puzzle books, playing cards, toothpaste, Girl Scout cookies and fresh socks.

The article implies that the problem is lack of mail delivered in a war zone. While mail is not being delivered, that is not the problem. I have been in touch with two angry mothers. One has a son, a sailor who served on the USS Tripoli, who lost 30 pounds during his recent deployment. The other lady, who I met at Robert Barnes’ conference last weekend in Chattanooga, is the mother of a Marine who served on the USS Boxer. The sailor’s mom sent me photos, text messages and emails from her son describing the unpalatable cuisine. She has the receipts.

What has changed since this video?

The upcoming PATCON will be three roundtable discussions focusing on what we should be doing to survive and make a better future. I am entertaining suggestions for two of the topics. The one that is set will be a discussion on what is needed for a minimal government for a country. This will focus on a rebuilding of a government when the country collapses, not how to fix the current system that overthrew our Republic.

Topics under consideration:

1. Revolution or Civil War
2. Solutions that do not involve bloodshed
3. Why we cannot vote our way out of this
4. Educational reform to eliminate indoctrination, implement AI and ensure curricula that are required for our children to be productive and practical.
5. How did the country collapse so that we can learn from our mistakes
6. Did our founding fathers expect freedom of religion to be the means of our collapse
7. How did our judiciary become corrupted

While the 2018 PATCON was important, nothing positive was gained. That is the reason that the format is changing to discussions for practical solutions and paths for a better future.

Roth Note: The Jews have been whining about the Holocaust for the last fifty years. The perpetual victims. Some say the Holocaust is a manufactured story to enable the Jews. I can’t disagree.

When I was in high school (graduated in 1972), many of us drew swastikas on our book covers, idolized the German Army, preferred the German uniform for its fashion sense, and even spoke of ‘Jewing someone down’ if they were trying to negotiate a lower price. There was no mention of any Holocaust in our history classes.

The teachers didn’t freak out over the swastikas, or the drawings we made of German Tiger tanks blowing up Soviet T-34s. No one called us anti-Semitic for using ‘Jew’ as a pejorative. Then came Hollywood, and for the last fifty years or so we’ve been inundated with the sad stories of the ‘reality’ of the Holocaust, the evil Germans, and, of course, the worst mass murdering genocidal dictator in world history.

I enjoy studying history and as most readers here will agree, that study is generally more productive if one ignores the surface level search engines and history classes and digs into the weeds – autobiographies, archives, newspapers of the time, and correspondence between the participants. And then there’s the science. Could the Germans have actually carried out an extermination? The forensic and archeological evidence for that has been largely debunked by experts who have examined the camps. Then there’s the logic. How could there have been more Jews in Europe at the end of WWII than before if six million had been exterminated?

Since I wasn’t there I don’t know, but I believe, based on my research, that the Holocaust is a Holohoax used to keep the Goyim in line. I’m open to being proved wrong. The reader may want to begin with reading the available information provided by Ron Unz. There’s plenty more sources beyond his for the interested parties.

The Artificial Intelligence bubble in the United States is still growing. It is consuming a large share of the available financial resources. But its output, in form of real products, is so far rather meager.

There are some code generation tools which are, at times, helpful, but, unless subsidized, very expensive. There is ChatGTP and other squawk boxes which in the end are just new forms of inherently unreliable web search tools.

What is missing are useful mass applications billions of people are willing to pay for.

Still – a large number of ‘very important people’ believe that the Large Language Models, which are at the core of OpenAI’s and Anthropic products, will one day reach the capabilities of sentient beings. That is, in my view, utter bullshit, but who am I to tell you.

Ed Zitron and others will rightly tell you that the huge investments spent on AI are making no sense at all.

Where are the products and the customers that will allow to recuperate the hundreds of billions of shady dollars spent on data centers for AI?

The Chinese modelers, for lack of unlimited venture capital, have had to find better ways to solve the problems. Their use of different algorithms allows them to deliver nearly similar results for much less money.

There is also a difference in attitude. Where U.S. financiers like Larry Ellison are striving for some god-like general artificial intelligence, the Chinese (and some European) developers and financiers are much more interested in solving real world (industry) problems.

At some point the AI bubble in the U.S. will blow up. There will be a lot of collateral damage. Many people will lose their money. There will be a number of useless empty data centers up for rent.

The NY Times and the Economist presume that this will cause China to have similar problems.

That is unlikely to be the case as Chinese AI is based on a different math, and different economic models.

Roth Note: I recall all the money being poured into solar and wind farms; technology that costs more energy to establish than it produces, all subsidized by the government. I smell a similar scam with AI.
