  1. Lies, Damned Lies, and then there’s Government Statistics.

Employment and inflation numbers in particular (anything that might affect the fed reserve, and thus the stock market), are assumed to be massaged to the point of making a pig wearing lipstick to appear appropriate.

  2. Cooking the books, just like Democrat run cities do with crime data to make their admin look better. I got a chuckle out of Trump claiming to have inherited the worst economy evuh during his talk the other night. It’s literally the number 1 excuse of every president since JFK.

  3. Shadowstats has kept track using the “old” 80’s method which is the most realistic that I’ve found. Just by my own experience, grocery prices increased 100% during the Autopen administration. I based this on what my wife and I would buy every week, food items only. Trumps’ failing here is that he is isolated from the average American’s experience by wealth and the info his gatekeepers give him. He is trying to turn things around while being hindered by the people that profit off the status quo. At this point I don’t believe that anyone with a working brain has any faith in information from the government. As for the rest, it will take a serious financial event to wake them up.
