They're $15k brand new.
And now the emissions regulations killing them are dead. https://t.co/xGRbqvCAm8 pic.twitter.com/mAo5FOnomT

That looks more like our 1986 4×4 Sr5 Xtra cab. Outstanding truck.
All of those fuel regulations were insane. The CONSUMER certainly didn’t demand them. The CONSUMER certainly didn’t ask for cars that shut off at stoplights, transmissions with 40 gears that cost $5000 to repair , or any of the other crap gimmicks they came up with to eek out the last 0.1mpg to keep the criminal feds happy.
If the South African version of the Isuzu diesel pickup becomes available in the US i would buy one. 4 Cylinder diesel great mileage, 5 speed manual with a rear diff locker. One of he best pickups i have ever owned. Trouble free and cheap.
Toyota is NEVER going to roll out a $15K Hilux in North America. Not enough profit to be had.
In 1986, our 4×4 from Toyota (sorry, that is EXACTLY what our truck looked like with different decals), cost $14K. No way a current 4×4 Hilux costs $15K. But I’d certainly buy one.
Well, that exact same $14,000 Toyota that you had in 1986 would cost $41,383.80 today due to inflation alone…

That’s not including any emissions stuff or new technologies available today. It likely had crank windows and a simple AM/FM radio with a single speaker in the dash. And you in a blizzard when it was -10F you had to go outside to lock the hubs.
Now all I need is a Russian 23mm automatic cannon to bolt to the bed and I’ll be all set.
