It’s a trap. Obama’s Affordable Health Care is a complete failure. Using taxpayer money to subsidize failure is not a successful strategy. The sunset date for these subsidies was put in place by the Democrats. If this ploy is successful, the Democrats will use it as a weapon for the 2026 midterm elections.

Let’s play this out. The House of Representatives is out of session again for this upcoming week. If the Senate approves this today (unlikely), the revised CR would have to go back to the House for approval. That would mean that Speaker Johnson would have to recall the House for the vote. My best case would be Tuesday for the session to start and if rushed, the vote would be late Tuesday. The President would have to sign off and the government would reopen. The is a doubtful timeframe.

Consequences:

Speaker Johnson would have to swear in the new Representative from New Mexico. She would be the 218th signature on Thomas Massie’s legislation to release the Epstein files. Neither party wants that to happen so be prepared for another week in the news cycle for political pandering and distraction.

I wonder what would happen if Johnson does not swear the into the House so the legislation would not come to the floor to release the Epstein files?
