It isn’t just rare earth minerals that the endless bureaucracy affects. It’s pretty much everything. Pointless paperwork and regulation probably adds 25% or more to the cost of everything. With rare earth minerals there’s a complicating factor. The refinement process is complicated and highly polluting. In some ways it’s better to let China pollute their own country refining it…as they don’t care about pollution. Tough choice.
